Mini Toy Review: Green Lantern Classics G'Hu

Green Lantern Week

Day 4 of Green Lantern Week features an Independence Day alien! Or, maybe it's Species 8472. Or maybe it's G'Hu, Green Lantern of sector 2937. As you can tell, I'm not crazy for the character design, which looks like it came right out of a 90's sci-fi movie. As great as the sculpt and paint apps are, I just can't get past the impression that he seems like a reject from The Phantom Menace.

G'Hu has lots of articulation points: ball neck and claws; ball-hinge shoulders; and swivel elbows, wrists, chest, hips and knees. As you can tell, there's a whole lot of swiveling going on, and the cuts of the wrists and elbows make posing a little weird.

I picked this dude up on sale at Walmart for only $7. Since he only comes with a Stel build-a-figure arm, the cheaper you can get him the better. At his normal price of $15+, I'd drop his value score a few pacs.

Although I'm not a huge fan of the design, G'Hu's sharp lines and spindly appearance does add some visual variation to my growing Green Lantern Corps. And Species 8472 finally has a companion.
